Helen L. Bury

Helen L. Bury, 92, of Washington, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.  She was born on August 6, 1931, in Washington, PA, a daughter of the late Mike and Anka Stajcar Phillips.  Her parents were two very hard-working Slovakian immigrants.  Mrs. Bury was a graduate of Washington High School and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish.  She was a devoted wife and mother and was a loving grandmother and great grandmother.  Mrs. Bury enjoyed playing bingo with her husband and attending her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s various events and activities.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

On March 11, 1952, she married the love of her life, Theodore A. Bury, Sr., who passed away on May 27, 1993.  Surviving is a daughter, Michele Liggett of Wolfdale, PA; a sister, Philomena Adams of Florida; two grandchildren, Alana Rae Liggett of Chicago, IL, and Rachael (Joseph) Brownlee of West Finley, PA; four great grandchildren, Noah, Andrew, Hannah, and Sarah Brownlee, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Kennedy of Washington, PA.  Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Theodore A. Bury, Jr. and by four sister, Katherine Haurand, Anna Alsko, Julia Alsko, and Mary Warrell. 

Friends will be received on Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 2:00 P.M until 6:00 P.M. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.  Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
