Former Washington County Executive

Samuel G. Miller, 88, of Eighty-Four, PA, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024.  He was born May 21, 1935, in Washington, PA, a son of the late Guy and Anna Miller.  Sam grew up in Washington and was a graduate of Trinity High School.  He started his career in his father’s footsteps at Jessop Steel.  In the 1960’s he took a chance and went to work for a small family machine shop. Through the 1960’s and 1970’s he was instrumental in building the small machine shop into a group of thriving companies serving the mining and steel industries known as Millcraft Industries.  In the late 1970’s he left Millcraft and founded another machining and fabricating company known as Future-All.  He served as President of Future-All until his retirement in 1996.

In retirement he enjoyed living in an 1820 Historic Landmark home and working the beautiful grounds along with his beloved wife, Juanita.  They both enjoyed searching for and collecting antiques.  He also loved his dogs and enjoyed feeding and viewing the abundant wildlife just outside his door.  One of his favorite lines in retirement was “Just taking it one day at a time”.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by wife, Juanita.

Surviving are his children, Kenneth Miller of Harrisville, PA, Douglas (Martha) Miller of Mooresville, NC, and Susan (Scott) Sciarra of Collegeville, PA; his grandchildren, Lee Miller of Denver CO, Marla (Tyler) Spitler of Midlothian, VA, and Samantha Sciarra of Collegeville, PA; his great grandchild, June Spitler; his brother, Joseph Creighton Miller of Hendersonville, TN; his step children, Michael (Melissa) Miller of TX, and Sherry Merkle of Washington, PA, and his step grandchildren, Danielle Merkle of Washington, PA and Drew (Courtney) Miller of TX.

At Sam’s request, there will be no public visitation.  Services and burial will be private.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 94, Meadowlands, PA 15347.
